We founded Green Thumb Gardens in 2013 with a simple mission: to provide high-quality, truly native plants to the Kansas City area.
Over the years, we kept seeing the same challenges show up—especially for people who want a native landscape but don’t have a clear system to follow:

Seasonality gets overlooked, and the landscape doesn’t stay attractive through the year.

That sparked an idea: what if we could do the planning, plant selection, layout, and guidance for you—packaged into one simple, ready-to-install system?
At the same time, we refused to create another product that adds to unnecessary waste. As stewards of ecology, we believe sustainability should be built into the solution—not added as an afterthought.
The Native Plant Box solves all of this.It’s a modular, professionally curated native planting kit designed to remove guesswork, reduce failure, and help you build a landscape that looks great across seasons—not just the day you plant it. And it’s designed for zero waste, with every material included for a purpose.
